“Imma Let You Finish” (Kanye West)
-This
meme began to become popular after September 13th, 2009, the date of
the MTV Music Awards. Kanye stopped Taylor Swift in the middle of her
acceptance speech for her music video saying “Yo Taylor, I’m really happy for
you, imma let you finish but Beyonce had one of the best videos of all time”
(the single ladies video). The next day Kanye West related threads showed up on
multiple websites, including 4chan. Kanye related interruptions were being
tweeted and eventually a blog was created called immaletyoufinish.com. On the 17th,
Kanye’s image at the awards of stopping Taylor Swift showed up on famous images
including one of Mozart with the phrase “Yo ___ I’m really ___ for you. Imma
Let you finish, but ___ is the best of all time”. I think this became so
popular because the event with Taylor Swift was on national TV and all over
magazines, so the whole nation could understand the meme and its humor.

point of the meme is to bring someone down who thinks he or she is the best.
-This
meme became extremely popular right after the event in 2009, but after a few
months the spike of popularity came down.
